How to make Cambodian sticky rice cakes

Making sticky rice cakes, the traditional food of the New Year, is two-day process!

Cambodian sticky rice cakes [See the article "Kids revel in traditional New Year’s celebration" in the Summer 2015 newsletter.]

First lay the banana leaves for 3 or 4 hours, according to the sunlight.

Soak the sticky rice for one night according how many cakes you want to make.

Cook the sticky rice and mix the coconut, palm sugar, mung bean (for inside the sticky rice cakes).

The next day, in the morning, it is sticky and lay it on the bamboo basket.

Mix the sticky rice with coconut.

Collect the banana leaves to clean up and tear it into the pieces.

Lay the mat on the floor and put the rice into the bamboo basket on the mat.

For banana sticky rice cakes, lay on the banana leaves on your palm and put the rice on banana leaf with ripe banana on the top and then wrap it with the jute string but it need to tie it hard five places.

For pork sticky rice cakes  add pork on the banana and then wrap it.

For Num Korm sticky rice cakes lay on the banana leaves on your palm and put the rice powder on bananas leave with the palm sugar on the top and then wrap it.

For Sweet sticky rice cakes, lay the banana leaves on your palm and put the rice on banana leaf with palm sugar on the top and then wrap it with the jute string but it need to tie it hard five places. Mr. Elephant like this cake very much because he want to produce the sugar factory.

These kind of cake cook for a long time until midnight before it done.
